Maya Vuchic – New Jersey Poetry Out Loud

Maya Vuchic, Kent Place School class of 2020, is honored to be nominated for this award. Maya has received an honorable mention and a silver key from the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for her poetry. She has also been honored with the title of first runner-up in the New Jersey State Poetry Out Loud competition. She is an avid student, a member of the French National Honor Society and a leader of three clubs at her school, including the literary magazine and a group that allows students to present their own work to others in a coffeehouse-style setting. She also instituted and now leads the school’s knitting club. A passionate musician, Maya plays with the New Jersey Youth Symphony’s advanced clarinet ensemble and has been selected for and performed with the New Jersey Honors Choir. Her choir is off on a choral tour of Ireland this summer. Maya is a three-season athlete, running on her school’s varsity cross country and spring track teams and fencing in the winter. She has coached younger students through the organization Girls On the Run and leads workshops for underprivileged students through the EdGift Foundation.
