Leah Clements -NJ STATE CONFERENCE OF THE NAACP ACT-SO STATE COMPETITION

Leah Nichole Clements is a Senior at West Deptford High School. Her plan of study includes College Preparatory and Honors courses with emphasis on the visual arts. She is an honor roll student and a member of the National Art Honor Society. This year, Leah received a special award in recognition of her passion and dedication to the arts. Most notably, she is a past state bronze and silver medalist recipient in the category of photography for the NAACP-ACTSO competition. For the last 3 years, Leah has been a member of the stage crew for the Spring musicals. Throughout high school, she has assumed leadership roles including President of the Photography and Graphic Design Club and Co-President of the Safe Space Club. Leah’s passion for community service and social advocacy extends beyond the classroom; last year she coordinated a toiletry drive for the Attic Youth Center, a safe refuge for homeless gay and lesbian teens in Philadelphia. She volunteers at a homeless shelter for families during the holidays and is actively involved with yard clean-up projects targeting the elderly with her church Youth Group. Focus and discipline are her mantra, Leah is a 4th degree Black Belt and has led Girl Scout self-defense classes. Leah has been accepted to several universities and will major in computer science with an emphasis on cyber security and web development.
