Malcolm Young – Student Award for Artistic Excellence and Leadership in Dance

My name is Malcolm Young and I am a senior in the class of 2018 at Passaic County Technical Institute. I am 18 years old and have been dancing for ten years now. Over the years, I have been versed in multiple styles of dance including ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, modern, hip hop, West African, and lyrical. Throughout my four years in high school, I have been an active member of the Dance Ensemble, serving as Company Manager this 2017-2018 school year. I am also the Passaic County Technical Institute Chapter President of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, have twice been awarded “Dancer of the Month”, and was a “Circle of Success” honoree in 2016. While working hard in dance, I have simultaneously maintained a 3.8 grade point average, am a member of the National Honor Society, have been a class representative for four years, and belong to a host of clubs including End Racism and Sexism Everywhere and Skills USA. My ultimate goal is to be a professional dancer on Broadway, specifically in the cast of “The Lion King”.
